Kerry Miller

Visit CantorFineArt.com to see more of Kerry's work. We are still finding it hard to believe, but this year Kerry Miller will have had her ninth museum show - her rise to prominence has been nothing short of meteoric. As a celebration of her success, we have created a beautifully animated video to honor these achievements. The video offers a glimpse into the magic of her book sculptures and gives us some insight into the painstaking process it takes to create her miniature worlds. It also serves as a bit of a swan song, as Kerry will stop making her book sculptures for the foreseeable future, in order to focus on her family. When we first started working with Kerry three years ago, her work charmed us. Fast forward to now and we find ourselves in a position where we are vying with high profile museums to acquire her book sculptures. Her art has created its own secondary market, with early collectors now capitalizing on their investments in reselling her work. Kerry's book sculptures have been featured on hundreds of art blogs and online magazines, her career trajectory would make many artists envious. Yet despite her success she is still the humble, polite, witty, amazing person we met three years ago. We could not be more proud of her or her achievements. Thank you for your friendship Kerry. She spent her afternoons gathering insects and flowers from the surrounding hills and fields. This piece gives a glimpse into that life, and into the countryside where she found inspiration. This is the first and only book Kerry has found of wild flowers with their long stems in tact. It is the reason this book is able to look like "an explosion of spring flora. Nature at its best." The typical Strand Magazine issue contained a mixture of serialized stories for adults, general interest non-fiction, and material for children. Much well-known fiction was first serialised in the Strand Magazine, most notably the short stories featuring Sherlock Holmes, written by Arthur Conan Doyle. The joy of these books really comes from seeing how Kerry has juxtaposed the characters in the book. She creates entirely new narratives, relationships, and lives for these old characters.
